My sister told me hed doctor was trying go get her in one for "just a few months" to supposedly "boost her metabolism and jump start her weight loss". I told her if I had a doctor and they said that to me, I'd find a new doctor. She didn't know at that time that it paralyzes the gut, among other horrors.
And I dont get these ideas that boosting metabolism would result in being less hungry. When I am maintaining a weight lifting workout, I actually get much hungrier, ravenously so, the more muscle I put on.
