A CDC researcher once told me privately, off the record, that he hated the government's attitude about fat, but his job was on the line and he had to avoid taking any stances on the matter. He would not have confessed to this had he not had a lot of respect for size acceptance activists in general, and me in particular. But this happened in the 1990's. He has probably retired or been fired by now!
