And maybe this is my wishful thinking, but I think it was brave of them to call this out when the current administration is promoting glp1’s as a cure-all alongside raw milk and trans fats. I think this might be an act of malicious compliance for the people’s benefit.
It’s super frustrating (but not that surprising) that the US even allows direct to consumer marketing of prescription drugs on television. Most countries in the world recognize the harms that can be caused by this practice, I wish we did as well.
"painfully ironic use of the song 'This is Me' from The Greatest Showman to advertise a diet drug" 💯 I've seen commercials for the Wegovy injections that use this song and it makes me grind my teeth every time.
I'm pleasantly surprised someone at the FDA is still evaluating and pushing back against pharmaceutical advertising and like you I'm interested in Novo's response.
So I'm thinking this is Novo Nordisk's modus operandi and is just thumbing its nose at FDA. Why isn't this part of the story blasted out on NYT and other news carriers?
Good point. Since GLP1s were marketed to treat and eliminate fatness I think it's a combination of paradigm entrenchment and ends justifies the means thinking. Sadly, I don't think we're going to see a re-evaluation of that position until thin people are harmed by these drugs. (Which with the prevalence of online compounding pharmacies that aren't looking too closely into those seeking prescriptions may be sooner rather than later. The spin machine of the pharma giants will of course blame compounders for this and the media will likely take them at their word.)
Wow, finally some good news from the FDA LOL.

Keep it up, FDA!
